The first thing I did was to make sure the pinout is the same as the Raspberry Pi 4 (from the 4-pin connector to the magjack). And yes, it is the same. Basically the connector’s just moved
Then unsoldered the old connector to the PoE HAT
The unsoldering process, if anyone is interested
I used a cheap desoldering tool (“ANESTY ZD-915 Desoldering Station Iron Gun”) from Amazon
Added an extension to the new connector
And heat shrinks
That’s it
It’s working and will be part of another project, a link to which I’ll add as soon as I’m done.
